We’re tackling resistant mosquitoes with a New Approach
Insecticide resistance is recognized as one of the biggest threats to the gains made in the fight against malaria over the last 15 years. This is due to the fact that we can only rely on a limited number of insecticide classes to tackle vector-borne diseases. In addition, mosquitoes come into contact not only with insecticides for vector control, but also with household insecticides and insecticides used in agriculture. Mosquitoes repeatedly exposed to the same modes of action can develop resistance, making it hard to control.
Therefore, there is an urgent need for new modes of action in vector control management as well as new strategies to preserve the effectiveness of both existing and newly available insecticide classes. We are committed to delivering tools and solutions to address the challenges associated with insecticide resistance.
That’s why we took a new approach: our Fludora® Concept. This is based on the principle of combining two unrelated modes of action to significantly improve the efficacy against resistant mosquitoes compared to solo insecticides. An approach well-recognized and practiced within agricultural crop protection and even drug therapies.
Our overall aim is to support the capacity of vector control programs to achieve significant impact on diseases by supplying cost-effective solutions that protect lives.
With our Fludora® Concept, we have now transferred this improved efficiency to vector control. Based on this principle, we developed our product solutions Fludora® Fusion for use against malaria and Fludora® Co-Max for use against Zika, Dengue and Chikungunya.
